Dave's Towing towed our car early Saturday morning and took it to their impound lot. When we called, we were told we could not pick it up until Monday at 8:30 a.m. when the office opens. They refused to tell us how much it would cost to get the car out. We went over to their impound lot that Saturday afternoon and demanded they release our car. We told them they have no legal right to hold it for 3 days, and we threatened to report it as a stolen vehicle. Furthermore, the sign on their property said ""Official Police Impound Lot."" We called the police who told us they have no affiliation with Dave's Towing and that regular police impound lots are always open on weekends. We stood in their parking lot for over an hour and continued to call their office demanding they release our car. Finally, after the 3rd or 4th phone call we insisted they at least tell us how much it will cost so we know how much money to bring on Monday. Then they told us we can get it out that same Saturday for $160. An hour later, they unlocked the gate and we paid $160 to get the car. We called them from another phone later that day just to see how much it regularly costs to have a tow truck tow a car from the approximate distance they towed ours. They said the cost would be $55.....even on a Saturday!!! But they charged us $160 just because the car was already locked behind their gate. Businesses like this need to be shut down. These people are thieves and liars. They provided us with no documentation of who requested our car be towed in the first place, they charged us an extra amount because it was the weekend and they were ""closed"" (even though someone was already there to unlock the gate), they charged us $105 more than what it usually costs to tow a car, they tried to illegally hold our car for 3 days, and they falsely claimed to be affiliated with the police by posting a sign on their property and telling us they are with the police, which they later admitted was a lie.
