We switched from Bell South (voice, DSL) to CBeyond (VoIP voice and Internet via T-1) six months ago. In all of six months, we have had one significant service issue. One. Compare that to daily issues with Bell South. I don't know why the other two reviewers had problems, but I'd venture to say there is an inability to read and listen on their part. The contract we signed was crystal clear about what we were getting. They made no misrepresentations about their being a CLEC carrier who would be using Bell South wiring but providing all services. (Bell South owns the copper and fiber folks. Deal with it. We just emerged from 80 years of Baby Bell Monopolies and you expect parallel communication infrastructure to pop up over night?) They also explained that they lease their CDMA cell phone tower access from companies like Sprint and Verizon. Again, a tower costs millions to erect, and the equipment is provided by someone else, so what's the point in not using the equipment that's already there? Look, I'll admit that there were minor problems with tihs growing company, but they are far better than anything else out there. Feel free to email me if you want to discuss. Just remember, caveat emptor and cetarus paribus. (That's latin for "be aware of what you're buying" and "all things being equal".)
Pros: WAY cheaper than Baby Bell and using their infrastructure to boot. I love sticking it to the man.
Cons: Limited cellphone selection. You have to find your own VoIP equipment provider. Sales people
