On a recent buiness trip to Denver I visited some old college friends from Arizona. With all of the choices for restaruants in Denver I wanted my friends to take me to their favorite dining spot. We drove a short while downtown to an area called LoDo and pulled up to a non-descript corner of 18th and Wazzee. A cool vibe was being pumped from speakers as we entered the restaurant. We were greeted promptly by a well-dressed young lady and after announcing our reservation she said that our table was not quite ready, but we were welcome to enjoy a cocktail in the bar and she would come get us as soon as the table was available. The Martinis were perfectly shaken and tasted great after a long day of seminars. The live music in the bar made the wait seem like minutes until the young lady escorted us to the dining room. The live Maine lobsters were nicely displayed in a tank in the foyer. The feel of the room was busy and exciting without being rushed. The servers were polished and smiling and the fresh flower arrangement in the middle of the room was extravagant. We were promptly greeted by our server and my friend ordered his favorite appetizers for the table. The shrimp cocktail, tuna tartare and crab cake were outstanding. My filet with crab and bernaise topping was cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth. One of my friends enjoyed the fresh Sea Bass with a Sherry Soy reduction that looked fantastic The side dishes were steaming hot, something you don't get very often, and the crab fried rice and sweet potato casserole were heavenly. It is surely enough food for the hearty and I had plenty to take back to my hotel. A piece of key lime pie and a cup of coffee were it for me. I left my two friends in the bar enjoying cigars and ports, someting I do not see back in Arizona, and retired back to my hotel. If you ever find yourself in LoDo looking for a great dinner, Sullivan's Steakhouse is the place.
Pros: Lively atmosphere, great service
Cons: Need one in Scottsdale
