Lombardi's is authentic! My husband and I live in southeast Texas and were only in NYC for a few hours yesterday (yes, just a few hours) and wanted to eat supper in Manhattan--preferably classic, NY-style pizza. We started walking up from the tip of lower Manhattan at Battery Park and stopped a NYC officer and asked his opinion. He told us about Lombardi's unique and special-tasting pizzas and how it was the first pizzeria in America. Well,...we knew we had found the kind of advice we were looking for to experience a great, NYC pizza. It was well worth the walk up to Little Italy because Lombardi's did not disappoint. The host was very friendly and seated us immediately (about 6 pm on a Mon. night), our waiter was pleasant, and our excellent Italian sausage and pepperoni pizza was served to us very fast and very fresh. We ate it with delight enjoying the savory tomato sauce, appetizing cheese, and flavorful meats. They were generous with all portions of ingredients (sauce, cheese, meats)...no cutting corners here. You can enjoy a Brooklyn Lager or ice-cold Coca-Cola (as we did), and your beverage will nicely compliment this one-of-a-kind pizza. Whether you're from one of the 49 states not priveleged enough to have Lombardi's at your backdoor or a true New Yorker through and through, either way, Lombardi's is the place for award-winning pizza. As far as pizzerias go, Lombardi's was the first and will outlast the rest. Do your tastebuds a favor and get on over to the corner of Mott and Spring and see for yourself!!
Pros: Pizza that makes your tastebuds say, ""Thank you!""
Cons: Cash only (but they have an ATM...and, it's well worth it...leave the plastic at home for this delight)
