Best Asian Fusion Restaurant In NYC-NOT! 1/3/2007

I read some of the reviews and I'm astonished at the accolades it's received. It's almost like these people were friends of or were paid by the proprietors. I will admit the decor is by far the the only thing Jade has going for it. \r As far as the service goes our waiter was deadpan and uninterested. Started by having some drinks. Ordered Singha beer & couldn't believe they didn't carry it-taboo with many Thai style dishes on the menu. In it's place we ordered the raspberry sake & an awfully tasteless $10 mojito(made only with rum, seltzer & mint thrown in without being muddled-no sugar or 7Up to sweeten it either). We then tried $12 mango martinis that were overbearingly sweet served in undersized martini glasses. \r Had the Tom Yum Goong soup as an appetizer which was unspectacular but palatable. Our main course consisted of the $18 Mango Shrimp & $20 Salmon entree.\r The Mango Shrimp consisted of 5 average size iodine tasting shrimp with a few veggies & some wedges of mango. They tasted as if they were boiled with some extremely bland mango puree thrown on top.\r The salmon was served with 6 thin slices of lime and tasted like it was marinated for weeks in lime juice.\r Both were accompanied by we could swear 2 dishes of Uncle Ben's Rice.\r If you come to Queens & want Thai/Japanese style food do yourself a favor and try Q Thai, Thai Austin, Pinang, Narita or Mickey's Place in Forest Hills. Erawan in Bayside is highly recommended too. Or for that matter just about any other choice!\r \r Pros: Ambience & decor Cons: Food, drinks, service & parking-wasn't worth the money more
