In addition to being a wonderful confectionary, The Portico Gift Shop is THE place to go for all maritime and pirate afficianados. Kay and Kim McCulloch began carrying a few pirate items amidst their maritime gear (how can you not carry maritime stuff in a port town?) and discovered that it moved quickly. Stocking more and more pirate items led to more and more sales. Kim produced and sponsored the increasingly popular Port Washington Pirate Festival - the initial event drawing 3,000 attendees, the second year (2006) bringing in 12,000 pirate fans, reenactors, singers, actors and vendors. The 2007 event will be held June 1-3 and should be as large or larger than previous years. Kay and Kim are incredibly sweet people that genuinely care about their community and throw all of the energy and love into their store. I enourage you to take a trip to scenic Port Washington and pick up an eyepatch or pirate flag from these two jewels.
Pros: Novel store in a scenic location.
Cons: Might need a map to find it.
