I am the owner of Just Cats Hospital and feel compelled to share my perspective on the events described in her post from 7/11/06 entitled "very disappointed". As a caring and compassionate individual, I took time away from a patient I was seeing to talk to Charlene because my receptionist was so worried about the cat's potential blindness.Since time is of the essence especially in blindness caused by hypertension, I suggested that we see her immediately so that we could assess the cat's blood pressure and if necessary, put it on appropriate medication to try to reverse a retinal detachment. At the same time, we could perform lab work to determine if hyperthyroidism or kidney disease were responsible. The closest ophthalmologists are located in Richfield and Akron. Due to the distance and hectic schedules they both have, a referral to either would be best after we had some idea as to the nature of the problem.
