After deciding I didn't want to bother bringing in a bill to prove to Blockbuster who I was, I dropped into Odyssey and was pleasantly surprised.\r

While they're no Vidiots or Cinephile, their selection of foreign films and less mainstream films are usually enough to satiate meespecially their large selection of films from Asia including everything from films from China's fifth generation filmmakers to Hong Kong action flicks to Kurosawa films.\r

Their sections are a bit difficult to navigate, with DVDs crammed in so you have to browse by spine, but their staff recommendation and notable director section are a great help to picking out a movie when you're just not sure what kind of movie you want to watch. And the number of each movie they have isn't always great compared to larger chains, but their selection is better overall.\r

The staff is always helpful and friendly and just the other day they gave me popcorn with my movie. I don't know why and I haven't eaten the popcorn yet, but I appreciate the generosity.\r

And if you're still in the VHS age, they have a lot of them. Some are for sale too.
Pros: great film selection, friendly staff
Cons: fewer copies of movies, some movies are only 2 day rentals
