It seems I never have the time to sit down and write a review about my evening's experience but this is one occasion I could simply not pass up. While strolling through the East Village with a friend we happened upon a cozy and beautiful restaurant called Knife and Fork. My friend's complain about what a picky eater I am, in fact in drives my friend nuts, but what can I say? I love food and I want it to be pleasing on every level. Last night's experience at Knife and Fork was just that. We decided to go with the tasting menu so that we could try a little bit of everything. Usually in that kind of situation I would expect to enjoy maybe one of the dishes and probably dislike one and think the others were so so. This is the one and only occasion that I've tried so many different dishes and was blown away by every one of them. We started with a little tea cup of tomato soup to settle the stomach and then moved on to the scallops which were juicy and delicious. Then we moved on to the cured salmon which I believe had a cauliflower cream and was served with a little seaweed salad. That may have been my favorite of all the dishes but it's hard to say. Each plate was beautifully presented and even more delicious. We then moved on to the goat cheese and polenta. This dish was absolutely incredible. Rich, soft, melting goat cheese over juicy polenta. Lush. We finished off with a juicy quail wrapped in bacon. The thing that impressed me the most is how well balanced and sophisticated everything tasted. No fluff or filler or one ting taste (which is what I experience a lot of the time) just exquiste little specific dishes. Anyway I was just so thoroughly impressed I had to share, from one food obsessed maniac to hopefully another.
Pros: Food, ambiance, wines
