I decided to give Sal's a try after reading it was voted Dallas' "Best Pizza 2006" by the readers here. After reading the reviews, I had some preconcieved notions about Sal's. From the reviews I expected the restaurant to be a bit smaller than it was, and I expected a "Pizza Naazi" to work there. Neither was the case. The restaurant was about average size - not small but not big either. I didn't feel the tables were necessarily "packed closely together." And concerning the service, one reviewer described the service as "rude" and someone else described it as "rough". The waiter we had was friendly and we didn't experience any negativity. It was the slow time of the day, so I guess they had no reason to be on edge. However, there were 2 guys standing in the workers area that sounded like New Yorkers. They were talking loud and non-stop for about 10 or more minutes. So I can see how those with that type of personality can come across as "rough". Us Texans tend to talk slower and more relaxed. I figured one of the guys must of been the owner because he afterwards got into a big, expensive car and drove off.
Pros: Good crust
Cons: Not enough taste to the pizza
