Best Indian in the Mission 7/1/2006

Under the new ownership the quality of the food and service has taken a step-jump up from the past. The staff is warm and enthusiastic and the surroundings are comfortable but best of all the food is outstanding. The preparation is a good as I've ever had in any Indian place, which is no small trick, but even more the quality of the ingredients is without equal. I find that Indian restaurants will skimp on the quality of the lamb and chicken, especially in the curry dishes, on the assumption that the combination of stewing and sauce will hid any shortcomings in the ingredients. Not so at Aslam's Rasoi. I'm particularly fond of lamb and the lamb served here is some of the best I've had. Likewise the chicken dishes. My partner, who's a vegetarian, assures me that the same is true of the vegetable dishes.\r \r Must try items are -- all the nan breads, the Rogan Josh, the Samosas, and the Sagg Paneer.\r \r The only weakness in the menu that I found were the desserts (poor flavors and consistency) and the Chai (which is too bitter for my taste).\r \r The final high point is -- there is rarely a wait for seating, even on weekend evenings.\r Pros: No wait for seating, quick service, good beer and wine selection Cons: Parking is difficult on weekends more
