Decent, Not Spectacular 7/7/2006

We chose to go there for dinner because it was a microbrewery. Oddly, this brew-pub was family-oriented with lots of kids. When we arrived, there was a short wait so we went to the bar and tried some beer. The pale ale wasn't as smooth as the blonde ale. We didn't try any other beers, but got a pitcher of blonde instead. When we were seated, my partner-in-crime ordered the fried shrimp platter which was acceptable, but not anything to write home about. Instead of the salad, he also opted for the tomato florentine soup which was decent. I had the fried combo basket of 2 shrimp, 4 oysters, and 1 fish which was typical. I also had the garlic mashed potatoes which had a hint of garlic. My other side was coleslaw which they could've bought from Church's Chicken or Long John Silver. I ordered a salad which did not get served to me until after I got the combo basket. The waiter was friendly, but got super busy toward the end of our dinner. It took about 30 minutes to get change for $10 to leave a tip. Overall, I would recommend Padre Brewing Co. if you like to explore brew-pubs. The food though was not remarkable. Maybe we should have tried the burgers or pizza. Pros: Microbrewery on the Island Cons: Food unremarkable more
