Do not make the same mistake that I did! I went to get a dress hemmed here because it was convenient to where I live. First, the lady wouldn't even get off the phone to help me when I got there. Then when I picked up my dress she charged me $70. For a hem??? I figured that she was joking. She clearly wasn't. I wrote the check. When I took the dress home, I tried it on just to make sure that it was okay. The lining was longer than the dress! So I returned to Selwyn Cleaners and showed her the dress. Her first reaction was that it was okay because the lining and the dress were the same color! I told her that if I am going to pay $70 for a hem they better do it right. I asked for a refund but she insisted that I leave the dress with her and she would fix it. I agreed! HUGE mistake. I went back one hour later as she asked and it was still not fixed. The lining was still longer than the dress. She again insisted that I let her fix it. I went back 30 minutes later and the lining was shorter than the outer layer...a lot shorter. Normally this would not be a problem, except in my case, the outer layer was sheer so you could tell that the lining was 5 inches shorter...but only on one side of the dress. I gave up. I will now have to take the dress to another alterations place and have them fix it. It was apparent that Selwyn Cleaners does not provide ""EXPERT ALTERATIONS"" as they claim on their front window. The seamstress clearly had no idea how to sew. Needless-to-say, I never got my money back. Next time, I will take my clothes elsewhere. I hope that you decide to do the same!
