Cozy and quiet 6/20/2006

My husband and I decided to take a ""road trip"" up historical Highway 41, wind our way through California's Gold Country. While we had two nights already reserved at a centrally located hotel we decided to start our mini vacation one day earlier...which meant we were at the mercy of the roadside motels for our first night. We stopped at a few motels with vacancies available but chose to pass on them, lucky for us! We foung this little ""gem"" of a place in Columbia, just minutes from the Columbia State Park. It has cabins and motel rooms that are quaint, comfortable, tastefully decorated, bar-b-q picnic area, pleasant, friendly owners, and very affordable. The room had a bathtub, refrigerator and microwave, satallite TV, coffee maker, hair dryer, comfortable bed(s), and soft colored towels just like home! Since the motel is located on the main road I was concerned that I would wake up early to the sounds of traffic, instead I slept late and peacefully in a very quiet room...I didn't even hear the other motel guests leave. One thing my husband noticed was that the room was without a telephone, but since we carry cell phones this did not pose a problem. We will be back! Pros: Ambience, parking, comfort Cons: lack of room phone more
