I'll confess I'm not a sophisticated connoisseur of seafood since I was raised in landlocked Colorado- a rural town at that. However, what I've eaten at Gladstones during 2 different visits to SoCal has been nothing special. Maybe this is what it's supposed to be like? You can get this stuff everywhere- a couple of steps above McFish. It's good, but not the spectacular seafood I expected to find in California, especially given the prices.
The service leaves something to be desired. The food doesn't stand out in any way. The only 2 reasons I can come up with that would cause people to put this on their list of favorites would be the great ocean view and the atmosphere inside. Everything else is so average that I'm sure you could find the same or better almost anywhere. Gladstones food is nothing special at all.
Pros: ocean view, atmosphere
