The Yellow Cab drivers are generally good people, the rates are fair for SF, and the vehicles are clean. But when using the call-in service, I've found that 50% of the time Yellow Cab will unscrupulously pick up anyone who happens to be waiting in the same vicinity. The call is then "cleared" at HQ and I never see my cab until I call back 30 minutes later to complain. The typical response from Yellow Cab customer service is: "They must have picked up somebody else". Not a problem if you live in the Avenues where there's not a lot of foot traffic, but if you live in a busy neighborhood you're better off hailing a cab from the street.
