We live in Cary, but make the trip to Peak City a couple of times most months. We've been for dinner, lunch and brunch and have never been disappointed. The evenings when they have music ( mostly jazz and soft rock ) make it a wonderful evening to dine, or sit at the bar with a drink and lighter bar meal ( you must try the Blue Chips, they are out of this world.) The building is a marvel, having been built a hardware store a hundred years ago or so. It can get a little noisy downstairs, so if you prefer a quieter time, ask to go upstairs, especially the back room, which is quieter and ""cosy"". The menu is varied and has something for everyone. Our steaks have always been mouth watering and juicy and the vegetables well cooked, not too mushy. A great selection of wines and beer on tap, which includes local brews and changes frequently. I can thoroughly recommend Peak City for an interesting and rewarding night out in ""old Apex town""
Pros: Ambience, variety, food quality, local brews
Cons: a little pricey, noisy downstairs when busy
