I followed Jill to Heart and Soul Salon, from her former gig at an annoying salon over on Central Avenue. I love her new place. Heart & Soul is fairly minimalistic. It has black concrete floors, large plate glass windows and white walls. The space is open and the lighting natural - lots of sunshine pouring in. The music (thank goodness) is not loud or too ""busy"". The atmosphere is not Zen-like or very serene - my husband and I both got cuts their on a Saturday - so it was busy. However, it is a refreshing change from ""frou frou"" salons in town or worse, salons so filled with their own self importance, that they are pretentious and uncomfortable. We both had to wait for Jill - something I'd never had to do before when she was at her old place - so hopefully H&S will get the scheduling thing down pat for our next visit. \r

But, she gives great cuts - they grow out beautifully. Be firm about what you want. I suspect that Heart and Soul prides themselves on artistic concept hair....and will give what looks great, but may not be exactly what you had in mind. \r

The downside: no website, that I can find. Truly, having no site is damaging to their business.
Pros: Great lighting, mood, stylists
Cons: No website, long wait
