The current 8.5 rating is unfair, especially given the grade inflation that seems to permeate these ratings. This place really should have a rating in the mid-nines. I have been to this restaurant 3 times. The menu is French and Cal-French. All of it is done well by very earnest cooking students. Because of the small size of the place, the students are able to make up for lack of experience with greater attention to their cooking. In addition there is a no corkage fee policy. The only drawback is that the restaurant is a cooking school so that it is only open Mon to Wednesdays and is not open all year round. Therefore it is important to call first to make sure they are open. Also it is a bit hard to find so call to ask for directions because it is part of the Santa Monica Airport complex. This place is a bargain.
Pros: Great food and great service at a fantastic price for the quality
Cons: Hard to find and only open on a limited schedule
