Outstanding Brazilian Steakhouse! 12/10/2006

I lived in Brazil for many years and know Brazilian food well. Known as a ""rodizio"" (rotation) ""churrascaria"" (steakhouse), Rafain would be considered top-notch in Brazil. It is just as good as the so-popular Fogo de Chao, but more reasonably priced. The salad bar is a visual as well as a gastronomic treat, and I salivate just thinking of the meats. Try the ""Picanha"", considered the choicest cut of beef by Brazilians, available in normal, garlic, and my favorite, ""spicy"" (Rafain's version of ""Tex-Braz""). The filet mignon, ""alcatara"" and pork tenderloin are also high on my list. The chicken breast was just a tad too dry for my taste, but my wife thought it was just right. Try the Brazilian version of beef stroganoff served with rice rather than noodles - yummy! Service was exceptional - the staff seemed almost telepathic. Beware of the Brazilian national drink, the Caiparinha - you'll have a hard time stopping after just one! Coming after the salad and all those meats the dessert bar is cruel and unusual punishment - but I cant resist the caramel pudding! Rafain is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Dallas. Pros: Service, salad bar, skewered meats and desserts more
