I read okay reviews of Sushi California, and since it was just around the corner and I was craving sushi, I decided to try it out. The atmosphere was pleasant, the staff was friendly and I like how it is kind of underground, but the food is just not very good. I ordered two simple rolls (12 pieces total) for $9 and felt like it was worth much less. The restuarant was almost empty, yet the rolls looked like they had been made in a rush as they were falling apart. The fish did not look or taste super fresh, the seaweed was tough and the avocado was beginning to brown.
Pros: Staff, decoration, atmosphere
Cons: The Sushi!
