Thursday 11/16. I decided to try Red Pearl tonight upon a friends recommendation. I have to be honest, I left my house kicking and screaming. Afterall, I have seen this corner change restaurants as quickly as Baskin Robbins changes their flavors... Its been everything!!! So after being told its now a chinese restaurant, I really wanted no part of it. But being the good friend I am, I walked out the door and reluctantly gave it a go... Well let me tell you... THIS PLACE IS GREAT!!!! \r
We walked in and the place is like something out of Saigon. Beautiful!!! Red and bold vibrant colors take you from dreary melrose and well with these colors and this type of decor you just have to smile.. There was a wait to be seated so we were sent by the hostess to the bar. I was unhappy that we couldnt sit right away and dreaded the typical hollywood bar crowd, but we had no choice, so we made our way to the bar. A tall pretty brunette welcomed us with a big smile and genuinely seemed happy to see us. Was I still in hollywood I wondered? I felt as if I had been transferred into Kentucky by the way we were treated. Terra was funny, kind and knowledgable and really made us feel at home. I was convinced she was an investor considering how highly she spoke of the restaurant and the food. She was funny and witty and gorgeous to boot. Where on earth was I? This is completely off the radar for los angeles. The bartenders usually make your drinks with attitude and ignore you like the plague. Our food came and was delicious. Terra introduced us to other bar patrons whom we chatted with for over and hour and exchanged numbers. This bar rocks! We never sat down in the dining room. We declined the hostess and had an overall amazing time. If you want good food and no pretention... Red Pearl Kitchen is just what you are looking for!!! It has the Cheers feel with a gorgeous staff and good food. Its almost too good to be true!!!
Pros: Amazing staff, incredible food!
Cons: They are so good they should be open for lunch!
