my friends and i were on a girls trip to new york and decided to dine here (we made reservations in advance). when we got there, we were told that we made reservations for three (which was wrong - we made reservations for 4) and that they tried to confirm our reservation but received no response (which was also wrong because we did not receive such a call). the hostess/server was rude especially because such attitude was unnecessary -- they had a table that fits 4 people and acknowledged that they received our reservation. anyhow, the introductory experience marred my dining experience a bit. to be fair, the place is small but has a nice charm and coziness. we all tried the tasting menu. the food was good but not spectacular. the soup was a bit bland. the scallops over seaweed salad was very good and tasty (which had a nice spicy kick to it once a soup was poured over it). the salmon over seaweed salad was also very good - not fishy and tasted fresh. the cod was average. the venison with thai cury sauce was not good -- it was too salty and ruined the meat. all 4 of us had 2 bites (to give the entree a second chance) and that was all we were willing to eat. the bread was fresh, home made and heavy. if i ever visit new york again, i would not go back -- there are other places around with better food and service.
