This place is so intimate that if the chef hears your query, he can answer it himself. He freshly prepares all of the fish dishes -- there are no prep stations, line cooks, etc. so if the place were full you could imagine a bit of a wait for your meal. The striped bass was delicious and the salmon was excellent. Other dishes to try are the red snapper in a saffron broth, a unique salmon paillard, or a whole fish grilled -- entrees are in the $16-$20 range. The sides of buttery mashed potatoes and string beans are good. The restaurant also does a bustling take-out business and the salmon and tuna burgers with frites seemed like popular orders at $10-$12 per pop. Bring your own Sauvignon Blanc -- your waiter will bring you wine glasses and serve you. Overall a very good value. Be glad its tucked away in Carroll Gardens - if it were in Manhattan, you'd be fogging the window pane looking in.
Pros: Fish is fresh, custom-prepared with French methods
Cons: Small hidaway, you could wait at peak times (no reservations)
