Keep those Classics on the Road 11/6/2006

I have owned more than 30 motorcycles over the last 25 years, everything from a Hodaka Ace 100 to a Ducati Monster, and every Moto Guzzi I could lay my hands on. Since 1989, I have braught my truly difficult motorcycle problems to Chuck House, starting with Crescent City BMW/Moto Guzzi/Laverda in the 80s and finally with Chuck House Motorsports on N. Claiborne Ave. Last year my LeMans mk III lost oil pressure and welded the crank. This happened a week prior to my planned trip to Daytona. Chuck helped me with locating used parts and stayed late, and came in hours before he opened and was able to do a complete engine rebuild for me in time to make Daytona. Since then he and his staff are always ready to entertain my questions and help me figure what modifications I might want to make. On more than one occaision, Chuck or a member of his staff has called me to inform me that a requested repair would run overbudget, thus giving me the option of proceeding or perhaps doing some of the job myself to save money. The most important thing about a shop that deals with emotions and vintage motorcycles is the honesty and character that is self evident when the question of how to proceed with a one of a kind problem. I've been told to wait a few days while they (The Staff) mull the problem over. We then map out a clear path to mechanical bliss. The bottom line is life exerience doesnt come from a manual, and nobody at the local Honda/Suzuki/Yamaha-Personal Watercraft dealership knows what a positive ground is. I will always reccomend Chuck House Motorsports as the first step inb the classic motorcycle experience. Pros: freindly staff that will answer all questions Cons: parking more
