My boyfriend and I showed up at this restaurant dressed casually and with no reservation on a Sunday evening. Although we felt a bit underdressed compared with most of the clientele in the restaurant, we were seated in the main dining area at a huge booth. Our waiter was very gracious and assisted us with the wine list and menu. As our main wine selection was not available, he suggested another wine at $18/glass. We decided to try it, and unfortunately, although the bouquet was wonderful, the taste was not even close to what I would consider an $18/glass wine to taste like. I was very disappointed. Live and learn.
I ordered the New York Strip Steak, and it was far too large. In fact, my boyfriend and I could have shared the steak and taken some home for the dogs as well. I don't understand restaurants who provide such oversized portions. The McMahons potatoes were fabulous, and our shrimp appetizer was delicious. I'd wished I'd gotten two appetizers for dinner rather than the steak. My boyfriend's prime rib was apparently delicious and tender, but I cannot say the same for my steak. It was a bit overcooked and didn't have much flavor.
After dinner, we did share McMahon's signature dessert...Champagne Fried Strawberries. They were to die for. One of the BEST desserts I've EVER had. I would highly recommend this dessert.
Pros: Fabulous desserts, but the Champagne Fried Strawberries are the best.
Cons: The New York Strip Steak was average tasting, but cost a whopping $43.00
