(Allow me to premise by saying I've worked in F&B for 6 years managing food outlets for Fairmont and 3 other 5 star establishments.) Indeed I had to wait 60 minutes on my first visit-the reason being that I came in at 8pm on a Saturday and basically no tables wanted to leave after the fantastic, funky and powerful band kicked off the party. The service was friendly but slow...but if you love Creole.....baby you are in for a treat. I'm addicted to New Orleans and Stevie's is authentic. Can Creole be a little greasy? Yes. Expect it to be. This place is for occations, so kiss your diet good bye for the evening. Start with the Seafood gumbo: An explosion of flavor accented with tall crab legs jumping out of the bowl. Next the Jambalaya and have the kitchen kick it up a notch-fire hot! They have Po-boys, and a host of other traditional creole dishes and soul food sides. NOTE: If you want a wonderful time at Stevie's here is the formula: 1. make a reservation for 7pm on Fri or Sat. 2. Be prepared for a noisy party going off. You need to be in the mood. 3. Get a good table near the band and if it's your b-day...you're dancing for the whole restaurant. 4. Eat, drink, and be very very merry in this authentic, lively, Jazzy, roudy, New Orleans style romp.
Pros: If you like the whole Creole experience....You'll LOVE Stevies
Cons: Slow service...don't even try to get in after 8:30. Nobody is leaving.
