My girlfriend and I decided to try out a new restaurant tonight before a business trip takes me away for a week (typing this in the hotel!) and we chose Red Pearl Kitchen. When we arrived it was past the dinner rush, probably about 10 (and on Tuesday), so there were only a few full tables. We had a very sweet waitress (I believe she said she had just moved from Michigan) who treated us like friends. Since we'd never dined at Red Pearl before, she was very helpful with suggesting dishes and describing the flavors. My girlfriend is a vegetarian (and can be quite picky) but our waitress provided several options that even sounded good to a carnivore like myself. Everything was very flavorful and my girlfriend loved her tofu with shiitake broth. My only complaint is that the music was so loud. Our waitress had it turned down for us a couple of times but when we said it was still too loud, she apologized again and led us over to a very cozy corner booth where my girlfriend and I could converse more easily. We will surely be coming back with friends sometime in the near future (and hopefully have the same waitress and lower music)!
