I first went into LaFreida's shop a little over 4 years ago. I wore my hair in a medium length afro that I had grown longer in preparation for it to be transformed into locs. She greeted me with her warm smile and proceeded to wash, shampoo, and condition my hair in preparation for it to be twisted. It came out great. (as others have told me) After about six months of treatments at 2-4 week intervals, my hair was finally ""locked"". It comes about after one's hair has been twisted for a period, depending on the ""kink factor"" of your hair. The more kink, the quicker it locks up. She does a wonderful, artistic job on each and every one of her customers and will let you know if and when she adds a little something your hair needs. For me it was something to keep the white portion of my salt-and-pepper hair from yellowing.
Pros: all of the above
Cons: parking
