A New Portland Institution 1/31/2006

I have eaten here several times and continue to come back. It is a wonderful addition to this hotly developing neighborhood joining New Seasons, Sal's, Sagittarius, Sohbet, and DiPrima. One wonderful dish that hasn't been mentioned in previously is the Rabbit with a cornmeal stuffing. I am not a Rabbit fan because it is too boney. This dish was deboned and wrapped around the stuffing. A wonderful combination of taste and texture. A unique dish in Portland. Roux has started serving brunch on weekends. The Eggs Benedict has perfectly made hollandaise sauce. The French Toast (Pain Perdu) is a dream. Very custardy. Only complaint I would have is the live music is amplified. Why the musician has to amplify in a confined space I'll never know. Hard to take in the mornings when soft music would be much better especially if you were up late the night before! Pros: Food, Service, Ambiance Cons: Amped Brunch Music more
