I can't give enough praise to the melting pot. This place is great for a date or special occassion, it's also been my favorite restaurant since I was about 6 -- in my 20s now. When you're not hungry enough for a huge meal, I go in and just get cheese, salad, and chocolate. Their salad dressing is also the best! I always buy a few bottles to take home. The staff is always very nice, and I've been to a few of these all around the country. If you're going to bring kids, make sure they are responsible enough to know not to reach towards the hot pots.
