Declining service & food 9/8/2005

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Denver but not anymore. The last few times we have been here, service was awful. At different meals the staff was rude, the meals items were brought out cold or at different times, the wait times between courses was over an hour, etc. The only thing constant is the terrible service. Call me crazy but when you order port with dessert, you actually expect it to be brought out with dessert- not when you get the bill. \r \r The food is also declining but is still pretty good. I still love the carpaccio and tuna tartar but as an example, some of the grilled veggies on my salad were slimy and old- almost unedible. \r \r We won't be going back here anymore. I don't know what happened over the last few years but we have given it many chances in the hope that they were just having an off-night. It seems everyt time we go, they have an off night. There are plenty of other upscale restaurants that have great service and food for less than what you pay at Strings. \r \r MY OLD REVIEW FROM 2005: Carpaccio and Tuna Tartar To Die For: I am a bit biased because I love their sister restaurant, 240 Union, but Strings is delightful. Every course is well prepared and the appetizers are especially good. My favorites are the carpaccio and tuna tartar. Even the bread that is served is amazing! The wine can be a bit overpriced but it is well worth paying a bit more when it is accompanied by the delicious food. Pros: not many pros anymore Cons: poor service, average food more
