Suprisingly, there were only 3 tables occupied when we walked in on a Saturday night in central Pasadena. The little fountain and green tea colored walls were calming and inviting, but immediately I was wondering about the ""yet affordable"" claim. A Philidelphia roll was $12 and tea, $1 (normally complementary).
My Japon roll was five pieces the size of teacup saucers and was a grand old, tasty mess. The drink menu was mainly exotic saki, and my selection proved to be quite good - a highlight. My boyfriend ordered the chicken and mushroom entree which was polite to the palate, and almost apologetic in lack of flavor. The meal (2 rolls, 2 pieces of shrimp, one entree, one cocktail, 2 teas) set him back $60!!!!! Not for the artist's wallet. Maybe a nice place to impress a client, a visiting relative, or a date with a heart condition.
Pros: upscale
Cons: not that affordable
