Better than cat food...but not much 5/23/2005

Charming but disappointing restaurant a stone's throw from DuPont estates. The decor is cute, with oil portraits of cats on faux finished peach colored walls, but whoever picked out the extremely uncomfortable zebra chairs with sloping backs to them must not have dined here. The food is suprisingly below par for what you'd expect at a restaurant where they encourage men to wear jackets. Decent kumamoto oysters started our meal, but our entrees were not prepared well at all. The fish was slightly overcooked, and both it and the crabcakes were almost totally devoid of flavor. The filet was a bit better though. Desserts include a (once again) almost flavorless chocolate torte and a significantly better vanilla creme brulee. The service was fine, but for haute cuisine, the chef needs to spice up the food lest he or she wind up in the dog house. more
