It's really hard to get good, thin-crust New York Pizza. Most places have spongy, doughy crusts. Other places go to the extreme opposite having cracker thin crusts laden with oil. Getting it right -- in between those two -- is tough (although the NY pizza joints have it down). The closest in the Bay Area is Arinell's in Berkeley. New York Pizza in Walnut Creek is just as good and has been, on occasion, even better.
It's low on ambience, good for a slice or take-away. It's open late and the staff are friendly and capable. Whoever longs for the days of ""Piggy's"" needs to stop making comments on pizza places...
