I'm a huge fan of BBQ... Western, Eastern, Texas, you name it. ""Barbecue"" is both a noun and a verb. This place has placards/article posted proclaiming it one of best in the area (and the U.S.). Things mustve gone downhill a lot since then. It's outrageously expensive (even for LA norms); justified neither by portion nor quality. Service is quick, seating non-existent, lighting is 60-watt naked bulb."" I sampled everything on the menu over 12 visits trying hard to find their strong point. Everything (except the beef ribs) was very dry and tougher than youd ever expect from the best. Their sauce (the hallmark of any good barbecue, Texas or otherwise) ranks somewhere below Heinz family-size: so sweet you cant taste anything. The $14.95 pre-cooked ribs you find shrink-wrapped in the supermarket are better. Too bad, theres not much BBQ to be found in LA, and I had high hopes.
Pros: service
Cons: food quality, price price price, ambiance
