I would ceratinly recommend this bar to a tourist because it is THE oldest tavern in Philadelphia but after you've enjoyed a serene happy hour drink, some cheap eats and chatted with a friendly bartender, I would advise that you seek out a more ""adult"" spot for an authentic philly vibe. By 8 p.m., this tavern is over run with college students swilling $5 pitchers of Miller Lite and So-Co and Lime shooters, while Bon Jovi or Neil Diamond blares from the juke box. The Karaoke nights on Wednesdays & Fridays are too annoying for anyone over 30 to put up with.
Pros: draft beer selection, decent pub fare, historic location
Cons: college kids, noise level, karaoke nights
