On the menu, it seemed Asanebo's prices were in line with most sushi places: around $6-$9 per order. We failed to realize that prices on specials are way OUT of line -- averaging $30-$40 per plate. We were suckerpunched by the oldest restaurant trick in the book -- unmarked prices on daily specials.
I would warn others to ask about prices before ordering, but then again, Asanebo is the kind of place where if you have to ask, you can't afford it.
That being said, the food was exquisite. I'm still dreaming about that Halibut, but still fuming about the prices. They must know their prices are an outrage, or they wouldn't be hiding them from view.
We got chumped. But if you're not a person of modest means like I am, by all means, go there and blow your probably-not-so-hard-earned dough. This place is yummy. Painful, but yummy.
