Real Southern Food 9/24/2004

My wife and I both grew up in the South, and have been sorely disappointed by the other Southern food in Portland. The hush puppies are right on, the cole slaw is a perfect mix of sweet and spicy, and the catfish was the closest I have had to home. Even the corn bread wasnt overly sweet! A tomatoes and mustard based BBQ sauces and bunch of traditional Louisiana and contemporary hot sauces are available. Beer selection is limited, but at least its Rip Curl or Fat Tire. We sat outside and were pleasantly surprised by Broadway not being too loud. I never thought I would have tasty Jambalaya like that this far from the Mississippi. I havent tried the Po boy yet, but it looked huge. Based on the dishes I had, I dont see how any of the food can miss. Everything we had was delicious. Pros: Great Food, Hush puppies baby!, Hot Sauces Cons: , Closed Sunday more
