Take two to Tango 4/2/2004

Red Tango is larger inside than it looks. Although the restaurant appeared full, we were seated right away without reservations. Don't let the unpretentious décor fool you, the dishes here are outstanding. We started with the Mezcla which featured a shrimp & cheese empanada, and a seasoned beef empanada as well as two arepas, ceviche, and plantains. An excellent start to the meal. For dinner we tried the Lomo Adobado - pork tenderloin marinated in smoked chipotle salsa, Berenjena Capeda - eggplant layered with mushrooms, roasted tomatoes and kalamata olives, and the outstanding Pastel de Choclo - a clay pot stuffed with paprika & cumin seasoned beef with a sweet corn crust. All were very good. The wine list is limited but features some affordable South American wines that compliment the meal perfectly. I also want to mention the great service provided by Amy, our waitress. You must try it. Pros: Inventive Dishes, Service more
