Those of us who have frequented every decent Chinese restaurant from Brookline to Westboro continue to return to Imperial China. The food is generally delicious; the service is friendly; the owner will refer to you by name every time you come in; and the atmosphere is more than acceptable. Ive tried just about everything on the menu (except the Japanese fare) and I can attest that the chicken in garlic sauce, the chicken with Chinese eggplant, General Gaus chicken and the crispy jumbo shrimp are particularly good. For appetizers, try the boneless spare ribs or the scallion pancakes. Carb conscious? Order chicken in garlic sauce with no corn starch and skip the rice. If your idea of Chinese food is a Pu-Pu platter, you should ignore this review and proceed to the nearest greasy spoon.
Pros: good food, friendly service
