The shotgun-style restaurant has tables down the left, a bar to the right, and a beautiful, gorgeously lighted kitchen in the back. The decor -- and the crowd for that matter -- was trendy and cool.
Tappas-style appetizers make for a nice start. Single-serve bruschettas, wild mushroom skewers, and shrimp with mango salsa. Sturdy, eclectic winelist. Our entrees -- an excellent grouper in bernaise sauce and a smoked prime rib -- were among the best we'd had in a Nashville area restaurant. Fresh strawberries with mascarpone and chocolate sauces was a light, interesting desert.
While many of the Nashville area's fine-dining destinations are a bit on the stuffy side, Saffire manages to be trendy and fun without forgetting about the food.
