In trying to condense my experience at Shiok down to 150 words, I'm filled with lots of contradictions. The menu was creative and highly varied, but the food was only decent. The atmosphere was bland and far too bright, but the service was impeccable - the manager made us feel like he took a personal interest in our dinner. The food was unusually spiced and often hot, but the wine list was impoverished and couldn't provide anything to complement our meal. In conclusion, we had a lot of fun at Shiok, but we probably won't go again.
Pros: incredible service, quiet, creative menu
Cons: so-so food, poor wine list
