Finally, a resort in Oak Creek that is not your typical 70's ski lodge - cheesy hunting lodge!
Amara has the feel of an Ian Schrager property or a W, except the rooms are nice size. The interiors are still cling to a southwestern motif but thouroughly modern at the same time.
We had a creekside room with balcony right over Oak Creek. We spent a lot of time out on the deck marveling the scenery and the sounds.
The best thing about the hotel, however, is the food. The best food in all of Sedona, I'm convinced. The dining room looks out over the red rocks, with a front wall that is all windows.
The breakfast buffet we had in the morning was fanstastic, but the dinner was amazing. We had a roasted red bell pepper soup that we ordered a second helping off, becuase it was so good!
Pros: food, views, quiet
