A short skiing trip and some exquisitely nasty snow forced us to the Marriott Hotel (the old railroad station) in Scranton. Miracles do happen. We had the pleasure of dining at Carmen's. An enchanting and diverse menu, excellent service, dining in a magnificent setting (the tile murals and the Tiffany glass ceiling are worth the trip) - this is a world-class restaurant. Each dish was superb: tuna with peppers - the tuna was perfectly done. Our thirteen year old asked for the recipe for the cream of turkey soup. Fondue: the cheese was of ideal consistency - no burning off or dilution through the two hour meal. Take a drive through Scranton; you will not regret this stop. Pros: Diverse menu, Atmosphere, Service Cons: Scranton: not stop 1 more
