Kappaya is a great little neighborhood restaurant, if you know what to order. I've been to Japan and the sushi is not good at Kappaya, it's uninpired and the sushi-su is not seasoned correctly. The presentation is appalling. However, if you're in the mood for broiled salmon or udon, you won't find a better value anywhere in town. The salmon is consistently good. Donburi and soba are also good bets, but stay away from the tempura, which seems to be cooked in some inferior oil or shortening which gives it a cloying crisco-ee taste. The service is fine, and if desserts are available (which they often aren't) they're worth a try.
Pros: good salmon, good udon, good donburi
Cons: bad sushi, bad tempura
