Our stay over the weekend was probably nearing the end of the school holiday season, and the reservation folks would not budge off the $199 fare for a standard king. When considering the New Orleans Ritz-Carlton's standard king rate was $135 for the same weekend, you have to raise the value question. I don't pinch pennies, and I realize hotels have to make hay when they can. The hotel service and food at Bernardo's were excellent, but the small rooms and flat pillows just wouldn't let me forget about the rate ! Maybe I'm getting old.
Pros: Historic, Romantic, Great Service
Cons: Small rooms, average furnishings
