At the risk of making an excellent restaurant less accessible to myself (how selfish) - I rate J. Gilbert's as one my favorite in the area. Steaks are always well prepared and melt-in-your-mouth tender. Other dishes such as 5 spice penne pasta or several fish selections are just as good. Although touted as a steak house, there is even a vegetarian offering. An assortment of appetizers, salads and desserts are all very tempting, although combined with the delicious sourdough bread and large portions - it is all difficult to finish. Suggest ordering smaller steak sizes unless you have huge appetite.
Excellent atmosphere, although at times a little noisy. Bar is well separated from dining so smoking is not an issue. Wine and beverage list is quite extensive.
Pros: Food, Value
Cons: Noise
