Although the staff at Lilly's were VERY friendly and helpful, way above and beyond the ""call of duty"" (I know- I spent several years waiting tables during high school and college) I did think the food was mediocre and left a LOT to be desired. Mine was a trifle overdone, with way too much sauce and crust and not much flavor. I've actually made home-made pizza with grocery-store crust and canned mushrooms that was better than Lilly's. And I'm no gourmet cook, either!
The atmosphere was cool and eclectic, but if you care more about the food than the surroundings, I'd suggest you head down Glenwood to Pleasant Valley shopping center, where you'll find a hole-in-the-wall called Schiano's, which is low on ambience and high on great Italian. Incidentally, it's run by a true Italian family and uses family recipes. Try a pizza, manicotti or the luch buffet.
Pros: GREAT waitstaff, interesting decor
Cons: terrible food, long wait, too pricey
