In the four months since I moved to Columbus from San Francisco I have been searching for a restaurant to call my favorite. Columbus has a wealth of good restaurants, but they all (Cameron Mitchells establishments especially) suffer from a sameness and lack of imagination I can only attribute to the Midwesterners timid palette. Finally, I have found Alanas: amazing food and wine (thats the whole point!), waiters who know what theyre talking about and gratefully assume you do too, an unassuming atmosphere, and a clientele that looks like theyve dined out more than twice in their life. The poor reviews Ive read on Alanas are no surprise the restaurant is not for everyone. Gastronomes unite! Ill see you up on High Street.
